With its 72 meters, the Schaalsee is the deepest lake in northern Germany. Many small waterfront sites invite around the lake in the crystal clear water. The well-equipped bathing area in Zarrentin offers a slide, games, snack bar and a nostalgic bathhouse.
Because of its quiet location in the middle of the biosphere reserve and the rural area that surrounds Zarrentin, the bathing beach is also popular in summer weather with bathers who want to escape the hustle and bustle of large outdoor pools. A nostalgic bathhouse emphasizes the rural charm of the idyll on the southern shore of Lake Schaal. In addition to ample space on the lawn, the well-maintained complex offers something out of the way playground, which is still well manageable.

The Schaalsee in Zarrentien is especially recommended at the end of the cycle tour. At the beach you need to pay no entry and a small beach restaurant is also available.
