1927 - with this date the Christuskirche is after the St. Mang church the oldest Protestant church building in Kempten, if one disregards the fact that today's quarter St. Mang did not become a district of Kempten until 1972. Already on the 1.4.1888 the merchant Carl Weitnauer gave the impetus to the establishment of the "evangelical association Kottern Neudorf and environment". In an early chronicle the 10.10.1888 is registered as the date for a 1st evang worship. The faithful were cared for by Pastor Bernhard Lehmeyer of the St. Mang Church.
