Glacial pots are formed by melt water that flows through the crevasses and in particular glacier mills to the glacier bed. This melt water combines to form streams and forms vortices at certain points. Flow speeds of up to 200 km / h and high pressure prevail in these vortices. The main erosion work with hollowing out the bed of rock is carried out by the sand and gravel particles carried along.
