The blue miracle of Damm is a retention basin that serves to protect against flooding and, if necessary, builds up the salt flats at the height of the Dammer mill. In the event of a flood, the inflow to the Lahn and consequently to the Rhine is regulated. The idyllic Salzböderadweg leads directly over the top of the dam, from where you can have a beautiful view towards the Eselsmühle up the salt flats. This building is already visible from afar due to its arla-blue color and therefore bears its special name among those familiar with the area.
