Fishing Spot at Iezerul Călărași

The nature reserve was declared a protected area by Government Decision No. 2151 of 30 November 2004 (on the establishment of the protected natural area regime for new areas) [3] and since July 2012 is protected by the Ramsar Convention as a wetland of international importance [ 4].The protected area is a wetland (glistening with water, running water, lakes, swamps, reeds, meadows, agricultural land), which shelters and provides nesting, feeding and living conditions for several species of migratory and migratory birds, some of which are rare and protected by law [5]. The natural area overlaps the Natura 2000 site - Iezerul Călărași, and since July 2012 it is protected as a wetland, by the International Ramsar Convention [6].
