In 2017, a stork nest was set up in the "Blutwiese" nature reserve in Gohfeld. The eyrie was set up on a 15 meter oak trunk in the middle of the blood meadow. Directly on Börstelstraße there is a small fenced observation post with benches that invites you to linger.

This small, inconspicuous rest area with three benches, just a few meters from Börstelstrasse (opposite the Blutwiese memorial stone, which commemorates the Battle of Gohfeld in 1759), is simply ingenious. From here, you have a direct view of the stork's nest, located high above on a 15-meter-high oak trunk. For years, it has been regularly used by stork pairs. From the rest area, you can quietly watch the storks "at work." And with a little patience, you can even capture them in all their glory on camera. An information board at the site provides interesting facts about the white stork, the "wanderer between Europe and Africa."
