It was a "forced mill" for the Hohner Harde.
The building from 1787 had an overshot, internal water wheel with a dam height of 2.5 m until 1920. Today it has an external, undershot water wheel as a "show wheel" without a drive in the house; there is no longer any technology.
This location has acquired a certain historical significance through the Storm miller family, who were tenants here from 1542 to 1863. Johann-Casimir Storm, the father of the famous poet Theodor Storm, was born here.

A beautiful place on the mill pond in the middle of Westermühlen, where Theodor Storm, whose father came from Westermühlen, liked to spend his holidays.
