Along with Vřesník and Mravenečník, Dlouhé Stráně is part of the massif, which seemed to form a forward defense of the main ridge of Hrubý Jeseník from the south. At the top there is the upper reservoir of pumping hydroelectric power station Dlouhé Stráně.
