Consider hiking this trail in autumn, from mid-September onwards, to witness the spectacular “Burning Dolomites” phenomenon. During this time, the larch needles turn vibrant shades of yellow, orange, and red, and the Dolomites appear to glow a magical red in the special sunlight, making for a particularly captivating experience under crystal-clear skies.
This trail is situated within the Puez-Odle Nature Park, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site, highlighting its natural significance. The Stevia Hut itself sits at approximately 2,300 meters, making it one of the highest alpine pastures in the Dolomites. Keep an eye out for the distinctive dead tree at Steviola, a popular spot for photographers, and observe the sheep grazing on the lush alpine meadows, adding to the trail's unique charm.
