Jeong Yak-yong, a representative thinker of the late Joseon Dynasty, was implicated in a Shinyu office building in 1801 (Sunjo 1), while living in exile in Guiyang with Gangjin, and moved to this second place, which was the calculation of Yun Gyu-ro in 1808. He lived for about 10 years until he was released from Guiyang in 1818.
In 1958, a fertility preservation society composed of local residents reinstated the collapsed Chodang, and was designated as Historic Site No. 107 (Dongdasan Remains). The building is a torii fault house and is managed by the Cultural Heritage Administration.
It was renovated in 1970, 1971, and 1975, and the signboard ‘茶山艸堂’ is famous for the writing of Kim Jeong-hee (金正喜). In the precincts, remains of fertility such as Jeongseok, Yakcheon, Yeonjiseokgasan, and Dajo are preserved.
