The Goitzschesee is the largest lake in a lake district, which originated from the former lignite mine Goitzsche in the Bitterfelder lignite mining area.
In 1998, the flooding of the former opencast mining area was started with the discharge of Muldewasser and terminated prematurely after the 2002 trough.

Great view over the great Goitsche See (including sailboats and surfers).

The large Lake Goitzsche is always worth a visit, walking, cycling, swimming, interesting facts about industry and mining, culinary ... The offer is quite diverse.

Always nice to be here, what has become of the former open pit.
