Nottolini Aqueduct Trail

It is easy to hike along the historic irrigation system. The environment has almost park-like structures. Especially nice in the spring.

We follow the dirt path that runs along the arches of the majestic Nottolini aqueduct that crosses, like a straight line, the countryside between the municipalities of Lucca and Capannori. We follow this path for about 3 km perfectly flat. In some points, we cross suggestive little bridges over as many waterways and we can enjoy numerous sources of pure water. After about 3 km, in a very short uphill stretch and on uneven terrain, we reach the small temple of Guamo where the first arch of the Aqueduct originates and which served in the past as the first reservoir for the distribution of water to the city of Lucca.
