The Lange Stein von Langenstein, a district of the city of Kirchhain in Hesse, is one of several menhirs with this name.

The originally 6.3 meters by 2.30 meters, today after a lightning strike of 1527 only 5.0926 meters high, spindle-shaped or roller-shaped stone is in the center of Langenstein on the cemetery wall. The place is an old place of worship. There is a church here for a reason. The Christianization of places of worship such as the one in Langenstein was in the hands of Boniface, the monk entrusted by Pope Gregory II (715–731) with the Germanic mission to 723 relocated the religious center by building a chapel dedicated to St. James and placed it a few meters away the Long Stone offside without touching it. The long stone is not built into the churchyard wall. There is an air gap between the wall and the stone. This has always been the case, regardless of the restoration work on the wall.
