Marienborn was synonymous with a border that not only separated Germans from Germans, but also split Europe. The Allied Control Authority, established on 1 July 1945, developed during the Cold War into the largest and most important border crossing point on the former inner-German border. On 13 August 1996, the memorial site German division Marienborn was opened. For visitors today, among other things, the functional units passport control, car entry and the control garage exit are open.
