In the "Lottehaus" museum you can find (almost) all information about Johann Wolfgang v. Goethe's stay in Wetzlar and his unrequited love for Charlotte Buff, which inspired him to write "The Sorrows of Young Werther".
For the people of Wetzlar, Goethe "felt" half his life in Wetzlar; but in reality only from May to September 1772.

The Lotte House is the birthplace and former residence of Charlotte Buff until her wedding. She served as a model of Lotte in Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's "The Sorrows of Young Werther". The Lottehaus presents portraits of the Buff family, items of personal need, but also bourgeois furniture and household items of the 18th century. Three rooms of the house are dedicated to Goethe's work, which in addition to international Werther editions of the 18th to 20th centuries also show printmaking and paintings with literary motifs of the novel.
Distance to the bike path: about 500 m
Opening hours Tuesdays to Sundays 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm.

The "Lottehaus" museum contains a great deal of information about Goethe's stay in Wetzlar and his unhappy love for Charlotte Buff, which inspired him to write "The Passion of Young Werther".
