Kalsmunt Castle Ruins

Great ruin, newly restored, walk-glass roof from which one sees in the tower

The view of Wetzlar from the Kalsmunt is well worth it - but a stroll through the old town of the Goethestadt (here Goethe has written the "suffering of the young Werther") as well.

Unfortunately, the observation tower is closed - a private association (thankfully) has built a makeshift canopy. A site fence has been erected around the tower, but one does not have the impression that the city of Wetzlar is taking steps to remove the damage caused by vandalism and to make the tower accessible again. In Wetzlar there is obviously money for everything - but not to secure one of the most important historical buildings. An indictment!
