This town hall is a rococo design by David 't Kindt. Originally it was quite small: four bays wide and three bays deep. In 1853 the size was more than doubled.
The facade is crowned by a bell-shaped pediment, with bluestone tympanum and seed beads in contrast on a pale background.
The balconies have an extremely refined parapet. Just like the astrolabe on top of the pediment, and the ironwork of the banister of the double staircase to the landing, this ironwork is by J. Delmotte.
The horizontal joints on the wall dams give a slightly provisional touch.
