Beautiful manor! The ruin on the De Haere estate does not date from the Middle Ages, but is less than 150 years old. It is called a "Folly". The folly (or fake ruin) was built by the most illustrious resident of De Haere, the Frenchman Pierre Gustav Voûte. There are several stories about the neo ruin. For example, there is a rumor that Voûte wanted to make an escape tower with the construction of the ruin that could be reached from the mansion via an underground passage. But during the last renovation, none of this was revealed. It is probably an element in the garden as you often encountered in the English landscape style.
