Egloffstein Castle, picturesquely situated on a rocky outcrop above the Trubach Valley, ancestral seat of the Barons von und zu Egloffstein since the 11th century, is one of the landmarks of romantic Franconian Switzerland and is located in the middle of one of the most diverse and attractive recreational areas in Germany. What is a shame, however, is that relatively little of the castle can be visited without a guide. Only the St. Bartholomew Church from 1752 is easy to visit. So you should think carefully beforehand whether you really have to see the castle up close or whether the imposing picture from below is not enough.translated by
