The Bolter Kanal (BoK) and the lock Bolter Mühle in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (Germany) are said to have developed the first navigable connection between Müritz and Berlin between 1832 and 1837. The Bolter Kanal connects the south-eastern bank of the Müritz with the Caarpsee. With the adjoining chain of lakes a navigable connection between the Elde waters and the Havel waters was created, which became 100 years later - after the construction of the Mirower canal with the lock Mirow - the "old drive". In place of the lock Bolter mill stands today a weir.
