So well hidden in the forest, the ruins are not easy to find. But when you do stand in front of them, you will be amazed. They are pretty well preserved, even though they are very old. The original version was probably built in the 13th century, but was destroyed and rebuilt several times in between. A mystical place!

The ruin lies on the district of the village of Eitelborn in the Westerwald above Landesstraße 329 between Bad Ems and Arzbach. Located in the middle of the forest, the Sporkenburg is not easy to find. It is best to follow the signs down the Burgweg into the forest from Eitelborn's eastern exit (Erlenweg, near the cemetery). You cross the barrier and take the path to the right at the crossroads, which slopes slightly. Alternatively, you can climb from the L 329, from which you can see the castle above the valley. The ruin, which is not managed, is freely accessible at all times.

Great castle ruins in the middle of the forest. The ruin is very large and invites you to linger.
