Your history:
After the War of the Spanish Succession from 1701 to 1714, the country had brought lack of food, need and misery. The Schlossgut Unterbaar itself had only a few cows left, so it was the honorable task of the cowherd, Nikolaus Kiegele, to take good care of them. One day he lost three cows less from carelessness and negligence, but rather from divine order. Despite an intensive and long search, he was unable to find his escaped cows in the then very dense and winding forest. Desperate, the only way to save his refuge from Our Lady was to find his cows again, and he vowed to honor her by building a wooden chapel. As if by a divine miracle, he found his escaped cows in a small clearing in the deep forest and carried out his vow at this point and established them here.

A beautiful church in the middle of the forest. We were able to experience an alphorn concert there.
