The history of the Beselich Chapel is closely linked to the earlier existence of the neighboring Beselich Monastery and Georg Niederstrasse. With the personal willpower and great trust of this Franciscan hermit and with the active support of the population, the chapel was built within three years and consecrated on September 8, 1767. After a very eventful history with drastic changes in secular and ecclesiastical life, our Marienkapelle continues to be an important place of pilgrimage in the Limburg diocese and is firmly anchored in local popular piety.
