Kermorvan lighthouse is the westernmost land-based lighthouse in France. Aligned with the lighthouses of Lochrist, Trézien and Saint-Mathieu, it indicates the channels of the Helle and the Vier.

The construction and ignition were supervised by Louis Plantier in 1849.

In 1874 a fog bell was installed.

By ministerial decision of May 16, 1898, the fortress of Kermorvan, located near the fire, was closed and handed over to the Ministry of Public Works. It is arranged for the lighthouse keeper and his family.

It is one of the few lighthouses that were spared in 1944.

The lighting system was dismantled and conserved during the war.

Automated since 1994, it is now remotely controlled and no longer guarded.
