THE EASTERN CITY GATE has not survived, but there are physical remains proving its existence. It was attached to the construction of the pentagonal tower from one side.

The city wall to the south of the pentagonal tower to the round tower has not been preserved, or houses were built there in the Middle Ages. A part of the city walls from the Pentagonal Tower to the Northern Tower of Peškera is only partially preserved, but it is in a rather bad condition. THE SYSTEM OF CITY WALLS dates back to ancient times; Reconstructions and adaptations were made between the 12th and 16th centuries, always on the foundations of the previous walls. Most of the construction work took place in the 13th century, when the city manager Warnerio de Gilago ruled the city.

In the 15th century the city was threatened by the Turks and special attention was paid to the construction of the defensive towers, which have been preserved to this day. Sometime in the past, a ditch was dug in front of the eastern city walls, which made Poreč an island, and a bridge led to the city gate, which is now preserved under the pavement. It was discovered during the reconstruction of the old town's infrastructure in 2005. The researchers suggested raising the city's stone pavement where the bridge stood until conditions for reconstruction were in place. This is also the entrance to the longest street in the city, Decumanus, and the best point from which you can take a historical walk through the city of Poreč (source: myporec.com/en/porec-discover /through-time/502)
