The former Raitenhaslach monastery is a baroque jewel. The originally three-aisled Romanesque pillar basilica of the monastery church was consecrated in 1186. In the years 1743 to 1746 it received a magnificent rococo interior decoration and became a true jewel of the Bavarian baroque.

The Church of St. George of the former Cistercian monastery Raitenhaslach is located in the middle of the old monastery district a few kilometers outside of Burghausen. For centuries it was the most famous old Bavarian noble grave. On the occasion of the 600th anniversary of the monastery in 1743, the pillar church received its rococo furnishings, which are still in place today, making it one of the most magnificent baroque buildings in southern Germany. After secularization it was rededicated as a parish church.

The Raitenhaslach monastery at the gates of Burghausen is not only an interesting destination for pilgrims. No, events also take place here, weddings and the monastery restaurant is rustic and worth every break. The Salzach flows below the monastery, along whose banks the path leads in the direction of the old ducal town of Burghausen.

Very well-kept facility and the monastery inn is more than worthy of a stop.
