The starting point is the Blauenthaler Wasserfall - Saxony's highest waterfall.
From here, head inland towards Sosa. There, the rise is crisp - but soon you will overlook the charcoal village Sosa with the beautiful meadows all around, which remind you of the alpine meadows in the Alps.
You follow the single trail "Wildes Erzgebirge" past a Kneipp facility to the dam Sosa, which is now also accessible. After a few glances from the dam, we continue to the Riesenberger houses. The sliding block should be legendary for those who like strong cheese ...
But you also need some power, because it goes up to the second highest mountain in Saxony (1018m) - the Auersberg. You will be rewarded with wonderful views to Zwickauer Land.
Have you done that, it goes from now 10 km downhill - either fast on the Sauschwemme (asphalt road) or adrenaline driven on the brake killer No. 1- the Schlangenweg to Wildenthal and continue along the Große Bockau back to Blauenthal.

The highest waterfall in Saxony, the altitude is really impressive. Located in a wonderfully quiet valley.

Always nice to look at and in summer very refreshing. Good food is also to be found here.

Saxony's largest and most beautiful waterfall. Impressive to look at (if it always rains sufficiently before). Not far from the Gasthaus Forelle

Probably the most beautiful and largest waterfall in the Erzgebirge, although of no natural origin, it looks quaint and wild.

ATTENTION! Until 31.08.2020 the Blauenthal waterfall is closed due to renovation work on the upper ditch. The inlet is cleaned so that water can flow properly again in the future.

Unfortunately, it sometimes falls dry in hot months (as of August 2020: no water).

A waterfall without water is probably only here !!! Real Erzgebirge 👍
The main thing is to collect the parking fees - there is still nothing of any construction work ... 🤔

Unfortunately, I didn't see a waterfall on my tour. But we are working on it. One more reason to come back; )

Not long without water, the construction site should be ready in August 2020.

Still without water on September 19th.
So much for "probably out of order until August 31, 2020" 😄
