The source area of the Stever was classified as a nature reserve in order to protect the deeply incised, hardly straightened and naturally overgrown course of the source stream. The Stever has several basic sources or seepage points. However, they pour so heavily that the small clots quickly turn into a powerful stream that drives the water mill in Stevern, which is only a stone's throw away.
