The Bas-Rhône Languedoc canal or Philippe-Lamour canal is an irrigation canal bringing water from the Rhône to the south of the Gard department and the east of the Hérault department since the 1960s. Decided in the years 1950, it allows the spatial planning of this area by allowing agricultural diversification, to ensure its urban and tourist growth in the context of the Interministerial Mission for tourist development of the Languedoc-Roussillon coast (known as the Racine mission).
It bears the name of Philippe Lamour, “father” of regional planning policy in France and chairman of the Compagnie nationale d'aménagement de la region du Bas-Rhône et du Languedoc in 1955. https: //fr.m .wikipedia.org / wiki / Canal_du_Bas-Rh% C3% B4ne_Languedoc
