The Mittellandkanal (MLK) is a federal waterway [2] and 325.3 kilometers long, the longest artificial waterway in Germany. Including its spur and connecting channels, the length is 392 km. It connects the Dortmund-Ems Canal with the Weser, Elbe and the Elbe-Havel Canal. In a broader sense, it is part of a connection between the three rivers of the classic first order Rhine, Elbe and Oder. In the West, the connection to the Rhine via Dortmund-Ems-Kanal and Rhein-Herne-Kanal or Wesel-Datteln-Kanal is established. In the east, the Elbe-Havel Canal, Untere Havel Waterway and Havel-Oder Waterway connect the Mittelland Canal with the Oder. In the European dimension, it allows a connection between the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France and Switzerland on the one hand with Poland and the Czech Republic on the other.Source:

Great paths and you can drive in sufficient shade (depending on the time of day and the canal side).
