Muntele Rece Monastery arose from the honor of those who sacrificed themselves for the liberation of Transylvania in the autumn of 1944 in the battle with the German-Hungarian troops on the peaks between Someşul Rece and Valea Ierii. Here, near the village of Bordeşti from the border of Muntele Rece village, several dozen soldiers from a Mountain Hunters battalion fell, of which 26 were identified and buried at the end of the confrontation. After the end of the war, every year, relatives, relatives and locals come to this cemetery, the place being called "Heroes" in time.
