Little remains of the version first mentioned in 1396 and that from about 1645; the current building largely dates from the period 1720-1726. The contemporary form of this castle dates from around 1725, when older wall work of a previous house was renovated. Around 1868 this house was provided with a neo-renaissance stepped gable. In 1881 the roof was fitted with slate and a turret was placed. The neo-gothic portal with the small spire will also have been built in that year.

The estate is open to the public. The castle itself and the surrounding gardens are private. Originally, Den Bramel Castle was a country estate from the 14th century. The current house largely dates from the 18th century, after which it underwent a number of metamorphoses.
