In 1580, the land of Fétan was acquired by Jean Thévenon, lord of Tavernost, lieutenant general at the bailiwick of Dombes, the Sieur de la Raffinière, Gaspard and Benoît Dufour, Jean Bluison and the Bodillet brothers. At that date a strong house already existed in Fétan. The current Château de Fétan was built in 1622.
