This forest was planted a hundred years ago by the former owners of the island, the Von Bernstorff family. Although Count Von Bernstorff chose the Corsican pine, because it can cope well with the salty sea breeze, many trees now die. Especially at the edges of the forest you can see how the hard salty sea breeze eats the forest.
