The original church in Rüdigsdorf was in a very dilapidated state. A fire on 15 October 1833 destroyed the church tower. In 1847 Crusius announced that he wanted to donate a new church in the Gothic Revival style. In 1848, the foundation stone was laid for the new tower. The inauguration of the church took place on Ascension Day 1849. Inside, the church has been designed by many contemporary artists as well as local craftsmen.

Cycling

The village is a heap village and is located in the valley of the Mausbach, in front of the steeply soaring Lenkersberg, wooded with old trees. The fertile, gently rising fields are divided by forest islands and rows of fruit trees. Characteristic for the place are the towering church with rectory, former school and harvest kindergarten in the Swiss wooden house style; the former manor house with a classical manor house and orangery; the many farm estates as well as single and multi-family houses built in modern times.
