Here is a link to the single trail scale. There you can read what S3 actually means.

Then perhaps it will also become clear what kind of difficulty this really is. Namely no S3 and also no S2. 🤷‍♂️😊

There are no large boulders/root passages, no high steps or hairpin bends, no loose scree and it is not steep either.

    - Blocked single trails with many larger boulders and/or root passages belong to category S3. High steps, hairpin bends and tricky diagonal rides are common, relaxed rolling sections are rare. Often slippery ground and loose scree are to be expected, gradients of over 70% or 35° are not uncommon.

    - Passages that have the 3rd degree of difficulty do not yet require any trial techniques, but very good bike control and constant concentration are prerequisites for mastering S3. Exact braking and very good balance are necessary.

Type of trail • Blocked, many large roots/rocks

    • slippery ground, loose debris

    Obstacles high heels

    Slope > 70%/35°

    Tight hairpin bends

Driving technique very good bike control necessary

Really varied trail - sometimes very steep, flowing, sometimes a bit rocky, absolutely recommendable for experienced mountain bikers!

In the lower part there are some slippery and moss-covered stones on the way, but otherwise the trail can only be classified as steep.

Why the Great Stöttertal Trail is designated S3 is still a mystery to me. S0-S1 would be more appropriate.
