Plankstetten Abbey

A magnificent monastery, managed sustainably. The monastery tavern offers organic beer, brewed by the Riedenburg Brewery, and delicious food. The organic shop and its accompanying wine cellar offer everything a gourmet's heart desires. Every time I'm in the Altmühl Valley, a visit to Plankstetten is a must!

The Plankstetten monastery, located on an impressive hillside in the Sulztal between Beilngries and Berching, is one of the most impressive and art-historically valuable monasteries in the Altmühltal Nature Park and is considered a monument of national importance.

The complex is not a museum but the home and work place of a lively Benedictine monk community.
