A tree as a work of art. At a point where two important long-distance routes crossed in the Middle Ages. A really special place, even for a short hiking break.
February 14, 2024
This tree, which was registered as a natural monument and was actually a pine tree, had to be felled in 2005. A year later, however, a new tree was planted and an impressive work of art was erected on the stump of the old hunter spruce. The site was originally said to have been used by hunters to lay out their hunted game. Already in the Middle Ages, two important long-distance routes crossed here: the Römerweg, which led from Siegburg to Kassel, and the Eisenstraße, which connected the Siegerland with Amsterdam.
