On February 22, 2008, the first mayor at the time, Erwin H. Zeiß, opened the Igensdorf Sun and Planet Path.
The approximately 3.17 km long planetary path begins with the sun at the Igensdorf town hall. It leads along the Schwabach towards Stöckach. The destination is the Rüsselbacher
Train station. At this prominent location, the dwarf planet Pluto is particularly noticeable due to its blue illumination at night and during twilight. The blue lighting is powered by a solar module. The technology for the Pluto sculpture was sponsored by a local company. The sun, in the middle of the "Mayor-Zeiß-Platz" was unveiled in 2006 and also completely sponsored.
