The Schnadstein (Schneisenstein) was built or determined as the boundary stone of three territories, that is not quite clear. Three areas met here - Wittgenstein, Nassau-Siegen and Kurköln - and there were always cross-border disputes. In the end it was like today, a court had to make a decision and did so provisionally in 1668. This is also referred to in the script on the slate in the photo in Sütterlin (at the foot of the stone).
