Ruwer-Hochwald Cycle Path

The Ruwer-Hochwald cycle path is another highlight of the railway cycle paths in the Hunsrück. The 48-kilometer route from Trier / Ruwer to Hermeskeil is one of the most beautiful bike paths on railway lines in Germany.

It is a nice bike path on an old railway track. That means, no traffic, moderate slope and immediate landscape enjoyment. Especially attractive is the lower section to Pluwiger Hammer. There are many small villages lining the way. The slopes are covered with vineyards and Burg Sommerau exudes romantic flair. In addition, there are some rest stops, some directly on the way.
The upper part of the trail impresses with lonely sections through fir forests and meadows. There are only a few places along the way.
Above all, the Ruwerradweg offers the possibility to get from the Moselle to the heights of the Hochwald.

Great to drive even with small children. Many benches along the way to take a break.
