The Himmelstadt lime kiln was built in the middle of the 19th century. Lime was still burned here until 1950. In the decades that followed, the lime kiln fell into disrepair and was recaptured by nature. Only a few remains of the walls were visible and a view into the furnace from above was possible. From 2013 to 2017, the Tourism Working Group dealt with the uncovering and reconstruction of the lime kiln based on the historical model. Display boards document the function and the reconstruction of the lime kiln, as well as the story of the lime burner Josef Hemmelmann.
