On 28.3.1961, around 8 pm, an Ilyushin Il-18W of the Czechoslovak CSA crashed here, killing all 52 inmates. No agreement could be reached on the cause of the crash: Russia (aircraft manufacturer) and Czechoslovakia (operators) suspected a missile strike by a NATO missile; the FRG assumed a technical defect.
