The bridge belonged to the railway line Britz (near Eberswalde) - Templin - Fürstenberg. It was opened in 1898/99. The route is only operated between Eberswalde and Joachimsthal. Between December 2018 and December 2022 there was a temporary two-hour connection beyond Joachimsthal to Templin Stadt, which unfortunately was discontinued.
