This is the hill between the Schalkenmehrener and the Weinfelder Maar, also called Totenmaar. From the saddle you can see the two maars, which are also known as the eyes of the Eifel, very good. A nice place where you should stop for a moment and let nature take its toll on you.

From Maarsattel you have an impressive view of two Maare (Schalkenmehrener Maar and Weinfelder Maar) and their explosive history. You can see Schalkenmehren in one direction and the Weinfelder Kapelle in the other.
Here there is a viewing platform with a bench on which to linger very well.

This Maar is located on the beautiful place Schalkenmehren (with good restaurants) and campsite. From many sides you have a fantastic view of the maar. It lies on the Maare Glück circular route.
