The Prunner Cross is a niche chapel built in 1692 in the heart of Zollfeld.
It was erected by Johann Dominikus Prunner, district clerk and private archaeologist. Prunner embedded numerous inscriptions and relief stones from Roman times to the 19th century into it, thus preserving them for posterity. Until the excavation and conservation of the amphitheater in the 1990s, the Prunner Cross was the only visible symbol of the Roman provincial capital of Virunum.
