Climb cement / pavè / dirt road leg splitter that from the beautiful medieval church of Fontanella reaches the church on top of the mountain where all the downhill paths start. Really tough climb due to some tears above 20% that leave you breathless. To be done absolutely to test the leg and for the beautiful views.

In front of the Abbey of S. Egidio take the steep and cobbled climb that starts next to the fountain. Follow the main road to the junction of the Porcile, here turn right and continue to the top.
This mule track can be considered a simple descent or a difficult climb. It is a wide and cobbled mule track, therefore without any difficulty downhill (in humid conditions, however, beware of slippery pebbles and concrete!) In conclusion: the extreme slopes (up to 27%) make it a very challenging climb and not within everyone's reach.
As an ascent it is undoubtedly the shortest and (perhaps) fastest way to reach the top of Canto.
