Kehrwieder is one of the former islands in Hamburg's urban area,
located in the western part of the historic Speicherstadt (Warehouse District) and part of HafenCity.
It's worth a visit because of the uniquely beautiful views.
Geographically, Kehrwieder is located in the Lower Elbe River fork and is the northern part of Grasbrook. In 1532, it was incorporated into the fortified city along with the neighboring island of Wandrahm.
Kehrwieder is separated from the old town by the inland harbor and the customs canal.
The boundary to the former port area runs along the Am Sandtorkai street.
It is separated from Wandrahm by the Kleine Fleet near the Kannengießerbrücke and
the Pickhubenbrücke. The Niederbaumbrücke, the Brooksbrücke, and the Kehrwiedersteg and Kibbelsteg pedestrian bridges over the customs canal provide a connection to the old town.
