Location: Villeneuve-Lès-Maguelone, Montpellier, Occitania, France
The "Cathédrale de Maguelone" is a listed fortress church from the 12th/13th century. The first mentions of the site date back to the 3rd century. At first glance, this seems particularly untypical for a cathedral and one has to ask oneself what such an imposing building is doing here between the waters on a comparatively small island.
