  • The lock was opened in 1886 and was completely renovated and expanded from 2005 to 2007. It overcomes a height difference of two meters and was the narrowest section of the canal until it was renovated. The use of larger ships was not possible. In a guide to German shipping routes published in 1914, the following information was given for the Raher lock, among other things:[1]

    Fairway depth: 1.50 - 2.00 metersUsable length and width of the lock: 33 meters (length); 6.50 meters (width)
